Resolving Disputes Smarter: Mediation, Arbitration and Beyond
Since 1930, the seed sector has relied on structured arbitration to resolve disputes arising from international sales contracts. Over time, this system has evolved—integrating mediation and conciliation and developing dedicated rules to address intellectual property disputes in plant breeding.
In 2024, ISF took a major step forward. The Annual General Meeting approved a new, harmonized approach to dispute resolution, strengthening professionalism and consistency through the ISF Chamber of Arbitration—while recognizing the continued role of selected national associations in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Argentina, and Australia.
So what does this mean for your business today? This #WorldSeed2026 session will explore why alternative dispute resolution matters more than ever, how companies can use the ISF system strategically, and what valuable lessons can be drawn from the long-standing experience of GAFTA.
