Biologicals on Seeds: Building Clarity and Guidance Across Regulations
Biologicals on seed are rapidly gaining prominence in crop production and crop protection strategies, but definitions, expectations, and regulations are still all over the place.
Different jurisdictions use different terms and categories (biologicals, biocontrols, biostimulants, etc.), and there is often an assumption that “biological = automatically safe and sustainable”, which does not always reflect the underlying science or regulatory reality.
For seed companies, regulators, farmers, and value-chain partners, this lack of clarity creates regulatory uncertainty, market confusion, and communication challenges. At the same time, biologicals on seed can play a key role in integrated pest and crop management, supporting resilience and sustainability goals – if they are understood and framed correctly.
This #WorldSeed2026 session will introduce the new ISF Guide on Biologicals on Seeds, highlight its key messages, and unpack practical communication angles that participants can directly reuse in their own markets.
