REAP Project: From armed raider to proud farmer and father, this is the story of Lokol Peter

At 32, Peter has lived a life most of us will never know. Recruited as a young boy while herding sheep, he spent years in the bush conducting dangerous cattle raids across the border into Kenya. He believed it was the only path to wealth. Then, in a single raid, he lost all eight of his companions. He walked home alone — starving, broken, and with nothing to his name. But his community refused to give up on him. A local savings group called Narube, supported through the REAP Project (ADRA Denmark & DANIDA), reached out. They talked to Peter. They welcomed him. And they gave him something more powerful than any weapon: belonging. Today, Peter grows beans and vegetables, sends his 8 children to school, plants trees to restore Karamoja's land, and saves money alongside 30 neighbors who became his family. Last year, their group saved a combined 5,540,000 UGX — proof that peace and hard work build more than raids ever could. This is what transformation looks like. This is what community can do. 🤝 ▶️ Watch. Share.
