Every child deserves to grow up in a warm, safe home. Yet energy poverty affects thousands of vulnerable families across Serbia. Through the UN Joint Programme Green Futures, Brighter Beginnings, led by UNICEF Serbia in partnership with UNEP and UN-Habitat and financed by the UN Joint SDG Fund, 14 municipalities are strengthening local systems to tackle energy poverty and protect children’s rights. From youth volunteers supporting families with practical energy-saving solutions to municipalities improving planning and financing for sustainable development, this initiative shows how local action can ensure the green transition leaves no child behind.
