Fighting Malnutrition in Asia & the Pacific: India, Pioneering Large-Scale Rice Fortification_ Long

India’s monumental scale-up of rice fortification via its extensive public distribution system and food safety nets illustrates a narrative of targeted advocacy, pilot demonstrations, evidence generation, capacity building among stakeholders, policy analysis, community behaviour changes, and national expansion. Since the announcement by India’s Prime Minister in 2021, 463 million individuals have received fortified rice through the technical support, capacity building, and behaviour change campaigns facilitated by the WFP.
