Meet the residents and employees behind Catalonia’s housing transition - Adama

Casa Bloc is an iconic 1930s modernist complex that lay derelict for years, before being restored by the housing association Hàbitat3. Today, the building is home to 17 families who were at risk of homelessness, including Adama’s family, who were evicted from their previous home of four years after the rent quadrupled. Hàbitat3 offers housing with wraparound social support - on-site, but non-intrusive - and the flats are designed to tackle energy poverty, with hybrid hot‑water units that cut bills and emissions.
