Muhammed Sanwal and Muhammed Abbas are two friends from the same town in Southern Punjab, Pakistan. Like many other young people, they struggled to find work - until they came across the Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation Project (SPPAP), cofinanced by IFAD and the Government of Pakistan. Both received training from the project and set up their own business: they are now running a successful mobile repair shop in a town where none existed before. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is the only international financial institution exclusively focused on transforming rural economies. IFAD invests in rural people and their communities, building food security, shared prosperity and stability.
