Women, Peace and Security: How storytelling strengthens civil society voices
Women and gender minorities continue to face pushback against their hard-won rights, from policy rollbacks to online harm. Violence and discrimination persist in every day experiences--within these sectors and beyond.
As a response, civil society organizations across ASEAN are working together to reclaim the narrative on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). Through The Asia Foundation's regional AMPLIFY program, supported by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, 18 CSOs and leaders convened in Bangkok, Thailand to learn from each other's experiences, strengthen their networks, and equip themselves with the narrative tools and analytical frameworks to address the backlash threatening the gains of WPS and gender equality movements across the region.

AMPLIFY is a five-year Women, Peace and Security (WPS) initiative that addresses the differential impacts of armed conflicts and human security threats on women in Southeast Asia by advancing their meaningful participation in conflict prevention and peace-building. AMPLIFY supports the implementation of ASEAN’s Regional Plan of Action on WPS and focuses on Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Myanmar through policy development, civil society partnerships, and community-level peace-building. This initiative is funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and implemented by The Asia Foundation.
