Pathways to Freedom: Supporting Political Prisoners from Release to Reintegration

Securing the release of political prisoners requires strategy, solidarity, and sustained action. At NED, the World Liberty Congress launched two handbooks, Pathway to Freedom and After Liberation, which offer practical tools drawn from the experiences of former prisoners, families, and advocates who have navigated both detention and reintegration. The program featured firsthand reflections from individuals and families directly affected by political imprisonment, alongside insights from the handbook authors on strengthening collective action and ensuring that no political prisoner—and no family—faces repression or reintegration alone.
