Addressing the Remaining Mine Contamination: Practical Lessons Learned from NTS Republic of Serbia
This side event will showcase Serbia’s Non-Technical Survey project addressing remaining mine contamination. With donor support and close integration of Information Management and field operations, the project—implemented in line with the latest NTS competencies—demonstrates how teams overcame legacy data, non-standard coordinate systems, limited access to remote communities, and capacity gaps. Solutions included recruiting and training local NTS members and a step-by-step capacity-building approach. The session will share practical lessons relevant for mine action in complex operational environments.
