IF25: Plenary - Building Resilience Through Inclusive Insurance

While credit, savings and other services play important roles in building people’s resilience, inclusive insurance at genuine scale and with real impact remains a holy grail. How can the financial inclusion sector help low-income populations absorb shocks, manage uncertainty, and recover with dignity? Despite enormous potential and real innovations in both products and distribution channels, there remains a lot of work to be done in increasing uptake - which is restrained by issues of affordability, accessibility, awareness, and trust barriers. Kicking off IF25's stream on the topic of this year’s European Microfinance Award ('Building Resilience through Inclusive Insurance'), this plenary brings together stakeholders from across the sector to speak on the overall landscape, technology, partnerships, psychology, product design and new distribution channels, as well as the perspectives of two providers who were part of this year’s Award. Thanks to our excellent panelists: Rishi Raithatha, Vark Consulting; Matthew Genazzini, Microinsurance Network; Sam Mendelson, e-MFP; Solène Podevin Favre, VisionFund International; Richard Leftley, Wavu Limited; Craig Churchill, The ILO's Social Finance Programme; Lorenzo Chan Jr., Pioneer Inc. (Philippines), Laura Elena Rosado, AXA EssentiALL, Roshaneh Zafar, Kashf Foundation.
