IF25: The Disability Inclusion Journey

Case studies and best Practices for Financial Services Providers Persons with disabilities represent 16% of the global population, yet remain among the most financially excluded, with women with disabilities experiencing particular exclusion. This session outlines the barriers faced by persons with disabilities to access and use financial services, and explores case-studies from financial services providers (FSPs) in Paraguay, Uganda and Haiti who have overcome these barriers to embed disability inclusion across their culture and operations. These case-studies demonstrate strategies for FSPs to serve persons with disabilities within their target client-base and become truly inclusive providers, through staff training, inclusive policies, improved accessibility, inclusive HR practices, data collection and external partnerships, alongside targeted outreach to women with disabilities and other deeply excluded groups. We also share methodologies and resources FSPs can use to start or deepen their disability inclusion journey.
