Info Hubs: Building Resilience through Digital Connectivity

The Info Hubs initiative, implemented in remote areas of Cox's Bazar, is making significant strides in narrowing the digital divide by providing rural communities with essential access to information. The Info Hubs Intervention is a project of Action Against Hunger supported by the German Government via Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in coordination with the Government of Bangladesh. A total of 30 Info Hubs have been established across fifteen unions in four upazilas of Cox's Bazar district: Moheshkhali, Ukhiya, Teknaf, and Ramu. These Info Hubs serve as vital connectors, offering various support services to rural populations, including: • Health services, such as telemedicine, ensuring access to medical assistance even in remote areas. • Agricultural, fisheries, and livestock information, empowering farmers with knowledge to enhance their productivity. • Employment and job information, providing rural individuals with opportunities for economic growth. • Social safety net and other public service information, ensuring that communities are aware of available support. • Financial services information tailored to the needs of the underprivileged, promoting financial inclusion. • ICT training to enhance digital literacy and equip individuals with essential skills for the digital era. • Online support services, including assistance with admission and visa applications. • Offline services such as scanning, printing, and photocopying. The Community Info Hubs aligns with the Government of Bangladesh's vision of building a Smart Bangladesh by 2041, focusing on extending digital services and benefits to rural communities. These Info Hubs continue to play a pivotal role in enabling rural populations to access digital services, bridging the digital divide, and empowering individuals to harness the opportunities presented by the digital age.
