Moldova just moved closer to joining the EU, and young Moldovans could soon get Erasmus+ and free rail travel across Europe. At the second EU-Moldova Summit in Brussels, President Ursula von der Leyen together with EU leaders met President Maia Sandu to push forward the country's path to EU membership. What's new? Accession negotiations officially opened just one week before this summit, a major milestone in EU enlargement. The EU will support Moldova's full participation in the next Erasmus+ programme, meaning more student exchanges and education opportunities. Young Moldovans could receive a DiscoverEU rail pass in 2027, giving them free train travel across Europe.
