SIPRI was honoured to be invited to launch SIPRI Yearbook 2026 at the Swedish Parliament on 9 June 2026 to celebrate SIPRI’s 60th anniversary. The launch featured an open meeting hosted by the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the former First Chamber. The meeting opened with remarks from Aron Emilsson, Chair of the Committee. The Speaker of the Parliament, Andreas Norlén, and the Chair of the SIPRI Governing Board, Stefan Löfven, each delivered an address. SIPRI experts Dr Sibylle Bauer, Dr Vincent Boulanin and Nivedita Raju joined SIPRI Director Karim Haggag to discuss nuclear arms control, military uses of artificial intelligence and the centrality of the space domain to contemporary warfare.  Following the presentations, there was an opportunity for questions. Pre‑submitted questions from members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs were given priority. Morgan Johansson, Vice Chair of the Committee, provided concluding remarks.
