100% Solar Energy Access Achieved in Kasakula, Malawi

In Kasakula, Malawi, something historic has happened: every one of the 8,813 homes, 12 schools, and a health facility now has access to solar energy. Five years ago, SolarAid set a bold 100% energy access target with the community, using an energy-as-a-service model. Today, that vision has been achieved. Families can switch on the light after dark, children can study in the evening, and health services can operate safely at night. This milestone is just the beginning. Through the new Rural Energy Access Lab (REAL), we’re working with partners to scale models like this across Malawi and Africa - helping communities fight poverty and build resilience to the climate crisis. Thank you for celebrating this 100% moment with us.
