As Arab American Heritage Month comes to a close, this conversation doesn’t end here. The U.S. was once UNRWA’s largest donor, providing over $300 million to support the 5+ million Palestine refugees living across the Gaza Strip, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem), Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. Today, that funding is on hold while the needs across the region continue to grow. As our Senior Advocacy Manager Lein reminds us, our tax dollars should reflect our values. Arab American Heritage month is about more than just identity, it’s about how we embody our identities and what we choose to stand for.
