Tackling ghost gear in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch

A vast majority of plastic flowing into the ocean can be stopped by deploying Interceptors in the world’s most polluting rivers.   But there's another source that we must tackle: fishing gear.   Lost longline nets alone could reach a 750,000 km length, enough to stretch to and from the moon.   We are conducting extensive research to understand the source and recently joined the Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI) to be a part of shaping policies and initiatives to tackle this problem.
