How much evidence is enough?
Some things you believe, this one we proved.
When women participate meaningfully institutions perform better, communities trust more, and peace lasts longer.
8 years. Global work.
22 Measuring Opportunities for Women in Peace Operations (MOWIP) assessments completed globally.
Thousands of data points.
The data has clarified what “meaningful participation” means: turning inspiration into concrete, actionable priorities. The evidence has allowed to generate clear blueprints for change: by identifying concrete barriers and opportunities within institutions. The evidence has driven transformation from within: engaging leadership, building awareness, and fostering internal dialogue.
In Senegal, gender awareness in the armed forces went from 19% to 93%. In Zambia, female officers no longer have to choose between motherhood and deployment. In Jordan, a purpose-built training center now prepares up to 240 women annually for UN peacekeeping deployments.
We don't just know the challenges. We have learned how to overcome the barriers.
Meet The Elsie Effect: 8 years of evidence.
