The CMS Secretariat, in partnership with the EAAFP ITB TF, hosted a webinar on 22 April 2026 to provide an overview of and receive feedback on a new self-assessment framework to assist Governments in Southeast Asia to monitor and measure the implementation of actions, and progress on interventions to address illegal taking of birds and associated illegalities. While this Monitoring Framework draws heavily from the Scoreboard to assess the progress in combating illegal taking of wild birds developed by the CMS Intergovernmental Task Force on Illegal Killing, Taking and Trade of Migratory Birds in the Mediterranean (MIKT) and the Bern Convention, it is also tailored to the unique socio-cultural setting of Southeast Asian countries and has been developed through consultation with a diversity of stakeholders in this region.
