[WMBD 2026 Youth Voices for the Flyway] Nature Survives Among Jakarta's Concrete

[World Migratory Bird Day Youth Voices for the Flyway] Youth Voices for the Flyway is a non-competitive, virtual open call for young artists across the East Asian–Australasian Flyway (EAAF), initiated by the EAAFP Youth Task Force. This invites young people to showcase their creativity and passion for migratory waterbird conservation. This year’s World Migratory Bird Day theme, “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter!”, highlights the importance of citizen science and community engagement in protecting migratory birds and their habitats. Title: Nature Survives Among Jakarta's Concrete Producers: Burung Indonesia, Yayasan Lahan Basah, and Sapa Alam Country: Indonesia Description: Across the Indonesian archipelago, wetlands are home to thousands of waterbirds that come and go with the seasons. However, amidst rapid development and changing landscapes, these fragile ecosystems are increasingly threatened. Through our journey through Jakarta Bay, this documentary reveals the importance of waterbird monitoring and efforts to preserve the remaining wetlands, while also demonstrating the close relationship between humans, birds, and the environment on which they depend.
