Over two weeks, our multidisciplinary teams trained scientists from a wide range of disciplines—on research management, including obtaining grants, financial compliance and science communication. The attendees include experts currently working in vaccine design, research and development, life sciences research labs such as zoology and virology, scientific biobanks, cancer research, digital infrastructure management for science, public health units and program management staff from the Pasteur Institute and partners. In these trainings we witnessed a strong, cross-sectoral interest in strengthening research governance, reflecting a shared commitment to collaboration, capacity-building, and scientific excellence. This collective engagement showing how relevant and timely these discussions are. Our focus on these topics in relation to science and health management—often under-valued yet decisive in a world racing outbreaks and systems strengthening—speaks directly to our mission: building resilient systems and leaders for Africa’s health security.
