Stand with Science: Sri Lanka’s Commitment
Sri Lanka continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to evidence-based health policy in addressing today’s complex health challenges.
At the World Health Day 2026 commemoration, Dr Nalinda Jayatissa, Minister of Health and Mass Media, Sri Lanka, highlighted the importance of science as the foundation of public health. From emerging diseases to the growing burden of non-communicable diseases, he emphasized that responses must be guided by evidence, driven by collaboration, and grounded in collective responsibility.
The message reinforces this year’s theme ‘Stand with Science’ and underscores the need to apply science in ways that benefit all people.
Dr Jayatissa was the chief guest at the WHO South-East Asia World Health Day celebration.
