How an Anonymous Group Brought Sanctions on Myanmar's Military | Justice For Myanmar
They operate in complete anonymity. They've helped trigger international
sanctions. And they've built one of the most consequential investigative
operations in Myanmar.
Justice For Myanmar, a 2025 Right Livelihood Laureate, is an anonymous group of activists that exposes the financial networks funding the
Myanmar military's atrocities.
Since the 2021 coup, Myanmar's military has waged a brutal campaign
against its own people, including mass killings, sexual violence, and
airstrikes against civilians. Justice For Myanmar's investigations have
traced the corporate, financial, and weapons-supply networks making
those atrocities possible, and prompted governments and companies
worldwide to cut ties with the junta.
⚖️ In this interview, Justice For Myanmar and Montse Ferrer from Amnesty International explain:
▪️ How they built an investigative operation from anonymity
▪️ The financial and corporate networks they've exposed
▪️ How their investigations have led to international pressure and sanctions
▪️ Why transparency is crucial to protect Myanmar's people
