Alsanosi Adam delivers an acceptance speech on behalf of 2025 Right Livelihood Laureate Emergency Response Rooms in Sudan — a grassroots humanitarian aid network keeping communities alive across one of the world’s most dangerous conflicts. Speaking for thousands of volunteers who could not be in the room, he honours those who have turned homes into clinics, neighbourhoods into lifelines, and grief into a responsibility to protect one another. “This award is both an honour and a shield.” ERRs volunteers work under bombardment, hunger and collapsing services, without protection or guarantee of returning home. This recognition brings something urgently needed: visibility, and with it, a measure of protection. Alsanosi calls on the international community to recognise grassroots responders not as temporary substitutes, but as indispensable partners deserving direct, flexible support.
