Ten years ago, their first refugee family arrived in Northwest Arkansas, marking the start of a decade of community and hope. "For Canopy is 10 years of their service. For us, it’s 10 years of our birthday." This journey began when a group of dedicated community members met at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville. They reached out to Global Refuge (then LIRS) to see if they would be open to establishing a resettlement site in Northwest Arkansas—a partnership that was instrumental in the founding of Canopy NWA. Ten years later, Canopy has successfully resettled nearly a thousand refugees, providing the long-term support and friendship needed to call Arkansas home.
