Saving Lives at Sea: Working with Djibouti's Coast Guard to enhance maritime safety

Every year, thousands of migrants risk their lives crossing the Red Sea from Djibouti, often on overcrowded and unsafe boats. Khor Angar, a key departure point, has witnessed countless tragedies—but also heroic rescues. With support from the Government of Japan, IOM has renovated and equipped the Khor Angar Coast Guard station to strengthen search and rescue operations and maritime security.
