Ebola Response

Ebola Response

The Ebola outbreak continues to impact communities across East Africa, with at least 141 confirmed deaths. As the outbreak unfolds in border areas with high levels of human mobility, IOM is working alongside governments and partners to strengthen preparedness, surveillance, and response efforts. From screening over 32,000 travelers in South Sudan to supporting more than 1,000 Village Health Teams in Uganda and activating Points of Control in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, IOM is helping reduce the risk of cross-border transmission through data-driven interventions. Preparedness efforts are also underway in Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, and Tanzania, where IOM is deploying staff and strengthening surveillance systems to protect communities.
