Tadjourah Call for Action | Eastern Route Migration Response
Across the Eastern Route, one of the world’s most dangerous migration corridors, thousands of migrants face life-threatening journeys every year. From extreme weather conditions and dehydration to violence, exploitation and unsafe crossings across the Red Sea, the risks are severe and too many lives are lost.
In Djibouti, governments from the East and Horn of Africa, together with IOM and IGAD, came together to discuss practical solutions to protect migrants and strengthen migration management across the route.
The Tadjourah Call for Action reflects this shared commitment, focusing on migrant protection, support for host communities, safer and regular migration pathways, and long-term solutions such as reintegration support and skills development.
Because migration affects the whole region, solutions must be regional too.
This initiative is supported by Sida and the European Union.
