Integrating Human Mobility in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Negotiations
Climate change and environmental degradation are growing drivers of human mobility.
Well managed migration in the context of climate change and environmental degradation can contribute to both sustainable development and climate change adaptation and mitigation opportunities.
In an effort to improve the capacities of countries in the East and Horn of Africa region to address opportunities and challenges of climate mobility and to enhance the implementation of the Kampala Declaration on Migration, Environment and Climate Change (KDMECC), IOM facilitated a workshop with 20 lead climate negotiators on integrating human mobility into United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change discussions.
