Dignity Kits Distribution in Pointe, Hanover | UNFPA Sub-Regional Office of the Caribbean
🌪#HurricaneMelissa left a trail of devastation across western Jamaica — but for women and girls, the aftermath brought a different kind of crisis. Homelessness. Unemployment. And the surge in gender-based violence that too often follows when communities are at their most vulnerable.
In Hanover, UNFPA and the Bureau of Gender Affairs went beyond the relief effort: listening, responding, and ensuring that women and girls had access to the GBV support, sexual and reproductive health care, and dignity they deserve, even in the hardest of moments.
Because emergencies don't pause gender inequality. They deepen it.
This video features Councillor Andria Dehaney Grant, Sandy Bay Division, Glenroy Clarke, Minister at @luceachurch, community leaders, and the dedicated teams on the ground who refused to let women and girls be forgotten in the aftermath.
This is what Rights. Justice. Action. looks like.
