Forward thinking: The future of cognition

It took the telephone 75 years to reach 100 million users. The mobile phone took 16 years to reach that number. Facebook about four and a half years and ChatGPT around two months. As new technologies are unleashed with no regard for rules and adoption happens at a breathtaking scale and speed, we paused to ask the question: what is the future of cognition, particularly for children? And how can we address the early evidence of shifts and harms right now, and not years later, like we are with social media? At Luminate’s “Forward Thinking” workshop led by children’s author and AI adviser to the UK Parliament Sophie Deen, participants explored this big question to come up with two winning ideas. What were they? Watch to find out.
