SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Cowater International is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of its Nordics entities (Finland and Sweden). The Financial Controller will be responsible for supervising corporate financial reporting, project accounting, invoicing, and monthly reporting processes. This role also supports the transition to Cowater International's harmonised financial management system.
The position will form part of the Finance team of Cowater Belgium, offering a unique opportunity to work in an international and inspiring environment with a company delivering development projects across the globe.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate accounting:
- implementation of Cowater's ERP system Deltek VantagePoint in the Nordic offices
- become the key regional knowledge resource for the ERP, maintain the master files, and provide coaching/training to colleagues
- prepare monthly financial statements and managerial accounting reports
- prepare annual accounts and support the audit of Cowater International Finland Oy
- Oversee the payroll and related HR administration (approx. 15 staff)
- prepare annual budgets, monitor backlog and forecast P&L
- cash flow management and forecasting
- establish and enforce appropriate and sound internal controls
- ensure that the financial conditions of the company's contracts are administered according to the terms and conditions specified therein.
- prepare project budgets with the project managers, monitor the financial performance of the projects, and raise any deviations
- review and follow up on the payments to project experts, sub-contractors and consortium partners. Invoicing and budget follow-up according to the Client regulations, following up overdue receivables
- prepare accrual-based project revenue and margin summaries monthly
- prepare the financial documents for contract amendments
- support the business development team by producing updated financial data for the project reference purposes
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- A degree in accounting or business administration
- Experience with project administration and accounting
- 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in an international setting
- Experience with modern accounting and ERP software packages
- Knowledge of the Finnish accounting standards: an asset
- Excellent skills in MS Excel
- Highly proficient in IT
- The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, precise and well-organized, flexible, independent, and tolerant of tight deadlines.
