CIFOR-ICRAF, through the International Potato Center (CIP), has been selected to develop a full proposal for the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The proposed project, "Transformative biodiversity conservation: Enabling Indigenous and Afro-descendant women-led actions", will support Indigenous and Afro-descendant women and youth in Colombia and Peru to co-design and implement conservation actions grounded in their knowledge, worldviews, and priorities.
The preparation phase will involve co-creation processes with project partners, IP and Afro-descendant women's organizations, and national stakeholders. It will also include the development of technical documentation required by the donor. The consultant will provide independent, specialized technical services to support the design and consolidation of the full proposal.
Objetive
The consultant, based in Peru, will provide senior-level technical expertise to support and co-lead the preparation phase of the IKI proposal until its submission in June 2026.
This consultancy is independent and output-based, focused exclusively on producing technical deliverables aligned with donor requirements and the consortium's preparation schedule.
The preparation phase will work towards IKI's approval and the political partners' endorsement of the full project proposal, and the conclusion of country mission reports. The consortium members will focus on four supporting objectives: 1) Generate, analyze, and synthesize information at national and landscape levels to inform project activities that are context-responsive and deliver the expected impact; 2) Co-design the project proposal and governance framework, coordinate collaboration with other IKI-funded projects, and secure the endorsement of political partners; 3) Assess social and environmental safeguards for managing risks, mainstreaming gender, and promoting multi-stakeholder engagement; 4) Identify and map remaining work to be done post-submission to lay the groundwork for the project's launch upon approval. The preparation phase will include country missions to Colombia and Peru by the fourth month to consolidate the support and engagement of political and other partners and stakeholders, and writing workshop approximately one month before the submission deadline.
