Your role
You coordinate donor-funded programs and design Technical Assistance projects that strengthen FMO's Pioneer-Develop-Scale strategy. And your first focus will be: Market Creation Platform and Investing in Young Businesses Africa financial sector market creation programs.
You work closely with other investment departments such Financial Institutions, Private Equity and Partnerships for Impact and report to the Market Creation Financial Institutions Manager
Your responsibilities:
Delivering quality program coordination services
- Plan, resource and monitor program.
- Hold responsibility for donor compliance.
- Manage communication, reporting (M&E, impact, financial) and actively participate in program specific donor governance and coordination meetings.
- Lead procurement, contracting and KYS for service providers, and providing programmatic services (i.e. scoping studies, program delivery strategies, impact and evaluation studies).
- Manage external consultants, and their deliverables.
- Act as donor/funder contact point and represent the program.
Designing quality Technical Assistance projects and making impactful grants
- Originate and administer Technical Assistance projects and grants.
- Ensure strong project design, monitoring and donor-compliant execution.
- Manage budgets, scopes of work and procurement processes.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and consultants.
- Represent FMO in project specific governance structures.
- Help shape LCI activities under programs, across the Market Creation Platform, and keep LCI activities aligned with FMOs strategy and existing policies. Support stakeholder engagement conducted as part of LCI activity design and implementation by facilitating stakeholder identification and introductions.
Facilitating Learning, Convening, and Influencing
- Contribute to further shaping and communicating the market creation platform value proposition and identifying funding needs. Contribute to fundraising strategies and proposals
Collaboration and synergies
- Support team and cross-FMO initiatives and process improvements.
- Provide feedback, review deliverables and act as escalation point for specific interventions carried out under the programs falling within your portfolio.
- Help embed Market Creation approaches and Development Contribution products/programs into FMO operations.

- Gross yearly salary ranging from EUR 80-90K (based on 40 hours/ week, including 8% holiday allowance and 13th month) depending on your seniority, years of relevant experience, and background
- Working hours: 40 hours per week

- 31 holidays
- Hybrid way of working (at least 3 days in the office).
- Working remotely abroad for maximum 60 days in a rolling period of 12 months.

Your team
The Impact Department: drives FMO's goals on SDG10 and SDG13 through impact structuring, market creation and technical assistance. The Market Creation FI team manages Technical Assistance programs, supports fundraising and delivers interventions across Financial Institutions and Private Equity.
Market Creation builds the conditions for new markets and pipelines to emerge — a core pillar of FMO's 2030 strategy.
Your background
- Master's degree in Development Economics, Business, Finance, International Development,
- Strong experience in grant making, Technical Assistance or advisory/consultancy services support, program and/or TA Facility management
- At least 7 years of work experience in similar positions
- Good understanding of the challenges of private sector development.
- Sound understanding of emerging markets and international development.
- Prior experience with financial sector
- Development and working on donor programs is required.
- The ability and willingness to travel globally.

You bring commercial drive, adaptability, and an entrepreneurial mindset. A strong team player, you inspire others and build lasting relationships. Analytical and structured, you manage complex projects with ease and communicate clearly in English (French is a plus).
