ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM
As a Solution Engineer, Specialist, you will support, design, and orchestrate solution architectures across SITA's Borders portfolio, ensuring our products meet the mission‑critical requirements of government, immigration, customs, and national security agencies.
You will be accountable for technical qualification, solution design, and ensuring that proposed border‑management solutions align with customer requirements, and are delivered “Right the First Time (RFT). Integrate advanced technologies into border solutions.
Reporting to the Solution Engineer, Senior Manager, you will be a part of the will be part of the SITA At Borders MEA Solution Engineering responsible for architecting and supporting end‑to‑end border solutions including biometrics, border control and pre-clearance, traveller risk assessment, and government‑grade system integrations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead the design and coordination of standard and complex border‑management solutions, often involving multiple internal and external stakeholders, including third‑party vendors.
- Own the technical qualification and all technical components of proposals submitted to the customers by leveraging expertise in SITA's Border and Security portfolio.
- Translate customer requirements—across immigration, customs, national security, and entry/exit programs—into scalable, secure, and compliant solution architectures.
- Provide pre‑sales support during qualification, proposal, and contract phases, including high‑value government procurement cycles (RFIs, RFPs, competitive dialogue).
- Design solutions leveraging biometric matching, identity verification, risk assessment, and AI/ML‑enhanced workflows to support modern border‑control operations.
- Develop technical BOMs, business cases, cost models, and secure stakeholder alignment on proposed solution architectures.
- Provide guidance to delivery teams during transition and early implementation to ensure solutions are delivered as designed and meet security, performance, and compliance expectations.
- Support SITA internal stakeholders in the product and solution workshops with government stakeholders, promoting SITA capabilities and ensuring clear understanding of system functionality and roadmap.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, delivery, and architecture teams to ensure interoperability and compliance across the border‑management product ecosystem.
- Support continual improvement by adopting modern frameworks and incorporating lessons learned into new solution designs and proposals.
Qualifications
WHO YOU ARE:
- 3-5 years of hands‑on technical experience in software engineering, infrastructure, security, or solution engineering in mission‑critical environments.
- 3+ years in pre‑sales, solution engineering, or technical consulting, ideally serving government or border‑management clients.
- Strong understanding of government border processes, immigration workflows, and identity‑management systems.
- Proficiency with networking fundamentals, switching, routing, and security technologies (e.g., Cisco/HPE, MPLS, SD‑WAN).
- Demonstrated experience designing solutions integrating biometric systems, document verification, or identity services.
- Ability to create accurate BOMs, architecture diagrams, technical descriptions, and costed solution proposals.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, especially in high‑stake interactions with government authorities.
- Ability to manage complex, multi‑vendor technical environments and coordinate across several engineering teams.
- Strong analytical skills, able to quickly interpret requirements and translate them into feasible architectural designs.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, procurement‑driven cycles with strict compliance and documentation requirements.
NICE-TO-HAVE:

- Experience with AI/ML models supporting border‑risk assessment or traveler‑screening workflows.
- Knowledge of ICAO, IATA, or international border‑management standards and interoperability frameworks.
- Background in biometrics engineering, identity proofing, or large‑scale citizen‑services systems.
- Cloud Architect, PMP, TOGAF Certifications are a plus.
