Interim engineer for First Wall design analysis, Saint Paul-lez-Durance, France

 

An interim employee is a person, hired and paid by an interim agency, who is made available to the ITER Organization under a contract between the ITER Organization and the interim agency, for a fixed-term period, for a specific interim assignment under the supervision of ITER staff. Interim employees are not considered ITER staff members and shall, therefore, not have the status of “Staff” within the meaning of the ITER Agreement and the Headquarters Agreement. Neither the ITER Staff Regulations nor the privileges and immunities granted to ITER Organization staff are applicable to interims.

Role Overview:

  • Business Justification: Temporary workload increase due to redesign activities of First Wall components, under schedule pressure. Detailed Field Line Tracing (FLT) maps are needed as input for final design decisions.
  • Perform analysis in support of the full-tungsten First Wall design. The interim staff, under the guidance of the ITER Responsible Officer, will: Main Tasks:
    • conduct 3D Field-line tracing (FLT) analysis and plasma heat load mapping on Computer-Aided Design (CAD models) (code package SMITER/L2G-YAFLT)
    • perform finite-element thermal analysis if needed (code: ANSYS)
    • provide the associated technical reports and present an executive summary fo the analysis findings to the design team.
  • Key Performance Indicators:
    • Capability to perform Field Line Tracing and Finite Element studies and to present a comprehensive summary of the analysis conclusions.
    • Capability to write analysis reports and present results in English, in good quality and in agreement with the defined analysis schedule.

Experience & Profile:

  • Profesional Experience: Less than 3 years
  • Education:​​​​​​ Master/Engineering degree/ eqivalent
  • Language Requirements: Fluent in English (written and spoken)
