ABOUT IIX GLOBAL

IIX (Impact Investment Exchange) is a Singapore-headquartered pioneer in impact investing, connecting capital markets with sustainable development. For over a decade, IIX has been building the infrastructure for inclusive and innovative financial instruments, running donor-funded development programs, and developing digital platforms that serve impact investors, enterprises, and communities across Asia and beyond.

Our work spans impact-linked securities, blended finance, gender-lens investing, and climate finance — always with the goal of mobilizing private capital for social and environmental good. We are a lean, mission-obsessed team. Everyone here wears multiple hats, moves fast, and cares deeply about the work. If that energizes you, you'll thrive at IIX.

ABOUT IMPACT INVESTMENT READINESS for INDONESIA (IIRI)

The Impact Investment Readiness in Indonesia (IIRI) program is a five-year initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implemented by Impact Investment Exchange (IIX). The program aims to strengthen Indonesia's gender-responsive and climate-smart impact investing ecosystem, with a specific focus on unlocking private capital for women-owned, women-led, and women-benefitting Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises, collectively referred throughout this document as Women-focused MSMEs (WMSMEs), in underserved and outer-island provinces.

ROLE PURPOSE

IIX is seeking a dynamic and strategic Country Director to lead and grow its presence in Indonesia — one of Southeast Asia's most important markets for impact investing and sustainable finance. This role carries dual seniority: the Country Director is the most senior IIX representative in Indonesia, responsible for the entire country operations, and simultaneously serves as the senior-most person accountable for all Impact Investment Readiness for Indonesia (IIRI) program activities — owning its governance, delivery, and reporting from end to end. Beyond IIRI, the role drives business development and forges high-value partnerships across the private and development sectors. Success means a thriving Indonesia office that consistently delivers measurable impact, secures new mandates, and builds a team that runs with accountability and ownership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Country Growth

  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan to expand IIX's operations and presence in Indonesia, aligned with regional and global goals on impact investing, sustainable finance, gender-lens investing, and climate action.
  • Identify and establish high-value partnerships with investors, corporations, government agencies, financial institutions, and development partners to deepen IIX's engagement and visibility in Indonesia.
  • Represent IIX in high-level forums, stakeholder meetings, and policy discussions on sustainable finance, gender-lens investing, and impact investing in Indonesia.

Business Development & Partnerships

  • Drive business development across the private and development sectors, generating revenue through advisory services, technical assistance programs, and investment facilitation aligned with IIX's capital market activities.
  • Build and nurture relationships with senior decision-makers in corporate, financial, and development institutions to drive client acquisition, retention, and expansion across Indonesia.
  • Lead revenue-generating proposal development, bids, and contract negotiations; secure new mandates that advance IIX's mission and revenue growth in the country.

Operational Management & Execution

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Jakarta office — ensuring efficient delivery across all Indonesian workstreams, maintaining IIX's quality standards, governance protocols, and risk management frameworks.
  • Serve as the senior-most IIX leader accountable for all IIRI program activities in Indonesia — owning overall direction, governance, and quality; ensuring timely and accurate reporting to donors, partners, and internal stakeholders; and maintaining clear accountability frameworks across all program milestones.
  • Act as the primary point of escalation and senior relationship owner for IIRI's key stakeholders — representing IIX at the highest level in program-related engagements with government agencies, donors, and implementation partners.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the Indonesia team; cultivate a high-performance culture grounded in IIX's PREM values — Passionate, Resilient, Equitable, Maverick.
  • Drive accountability and ownership across the Indonesia office — setting clear goals, tracking progress rigorously, and ensuring every team member understands how their work contributes to IIX's mission and targets.
  • Collaborate closely with IIX's regional and global teams to ensure efficient knowledge-sharing, cross-team coordination, and timely achievement of shared targets.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Skills

  • 15+ years of experience in business consulting (Big 4 or equivalent), financial services, banking, or impact investing — with a proven track record in growing and managing businesses in Indonesia.
  • Strong understanding of Indonesia's business, investment, and regulatory ecosystem; familiarity with sustainable and gender-lens finance is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in business development, client management, and stakeholder engagement, with a track record of securing mandates and building partnerships with corporates, financial institutions, and government agencies.
  • Strong commercial acumen — understands how advisory mandates, technical assistance programs, and impact investing structures are scoped, priced, and delivered; able to engage credibly with senior counterparts in corporate, financial, and development institutions.
  • An existing high-level network in Indonesia across corporate, financial, and government stakeholders is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams, setting direction, developing talent, managing performance, and building a culture of accountability and high ownership
  • Prior experience working within or closely alongside an international organisation — comfortable navigating matrix structures, cross-border reporting lines, and the expectations of international donors, development finance institutions, or global advisory firms; understands how to operate effectively as a country leader within a global organisation.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

The Person

  • A natural connector and rainmaker — someone who is energized by building relationships, opening doors, and turning conversations into strategic partnerships and revenue-generating engagements.
  • Deeply committed to IIX's mission — you understand why gender equality and climate action are not just values but investable outcomes, and you can articulate that case compellingly to investors, partners, and government.
  • A leader who builds teams, not just manages them — you invest in people, set high standards, and create an environment where accountability and ambition coexist; your team performs because they believe in the mission and in you.
  • Operationally sharp — equally comfortable in a boardroom and in the weeds of program delivery; you know what good governance looks like, you notice when things are slipping, and you act before small problems become big ones.
  • A pragmatic collaborator — you work fluidly across global teams and time zones, share knowledge generously, and understand that in a lean organisation, your success depends as much on how well you work with others beyond your own office as on what you deliver within it.

THE PREM FRAMEWORK

Every IIX team member is a PREM professional. We look for these qualities in everyone we hire: P - Passionate, Mission-driven & purpose-led

R - Resilient, Thrives under pressure & ambiguity

E - EquitableChampions fairness & inclusion

M - Maverick, Bold, entrepreneurial thinker

WHY IIX

  • Work at the intersection of finance and impact — your contribution directly enables IIX's mission
  • High-trust, lean team environment — minimal bureaucracy, maximum ownership
  • Lead a newly established country office with full mandate to shape IIX's Indonesia strategy — this is a builder's role with real authority and real impact.
  • A culture that takes PREM values seriously — you will be seen, heard, and valued
