Field Coordinator, Nalanda (Bihar), India

Organization: FIND accelerates equitable access to reliable diagnosis around the world. We are working to close critical testing gaps that leave people at risk from preventable and treatable illnesses, enable effective disease surveillance, and build sustainable, resilient health systems. In partnership with countries, WHO and other global health agencies, we are driving progress towards global health security and universal health coverage. We are a WHO Collaborating Centre for Laboratory Strengthening and Diagnostic Technology Evaluation. For more information, please visit www.finddx.org

Project Overview: India continues to carry a high burden of tuberculosis, with significant gaps in early detection and linkage to care, particularly in rural districts such as Nalanda in Bihar. Limited access to diagnostic services, low community awareness, social stigma, and weak referral mechanisms contribute to delayed and missed diagnoses, resulting in continued transmission and poor health outcomes. At the same time, emerging digital health innovations offer an opportunity to strengthen community-based service delivery and improve case-finding efficiency. This project aims to demonstrate an integrated, AI-enabled model for TB and respiratory disease screening that combines community engagement, digital diagnostics, and strong linkages with the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP). The primary objectives are to enhance early and accurate TB detection, improve referral and treatment initiation, promote community acceptance of digital health tools, and generate evidence for scalable and sustainable models that can inform district and state-level programming.

  • Provide training to community volunteers about project objectives, use of AI-cough sound app, data entry in ODK app.
  • Supervise the TB screening, referral linkage, TB diagnosis, TB treatment and adherence follow up, and referral for non-TB respiratory disease by community volunteers
  • Liaise with NTEP facilities for Xray/TB diagnostic evaluations and in private Xray facilities (if required).
  • Coordinate with community volunteers for TB tests of all presumptive TB cases, initiation of TB treatment among those diagnosed with TB and adherence monitoring for patients initiated on TB treatment.
  • Support community volunteers in linkage of non-TB patients to care for respiratory diseases in identified health facilities.
  • Organize the health camp for TB awareness at community level.
  • Responsible for maintaining data quality and completeness in ODK app and AI cough app
