Mission and objectives:
- La visión del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el
Desarrollo es "Ayudar a los países a lograr en forma
simultánea la erradicación de la pobreza y una
reducción significativa de las desigualdades y la
exclusión.
Context:
- UNDP Guatemala manages a diverse portfolio of projects
implemented across multiple territories and thematic areas.
Strengthening territorial intelligence and geospatial analysis is
increasingly important to improve strategic decision-making,
identify intervention gaps, strengthen coordination efforts and
communicate results more effectively.
- The Strategic Support Unit (Unidad de Apoyo Estratégico
- UAE) leads strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation,
knowledge management and partnerships coordination functions within
the UNDP Country Office. As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen
evidence-based management and territorial analysis capacities, the
office seeks to enhance the use of georeferenced information, data
analytics and visualization tools to better monitor programmatic
interventions and results across Guatemala.
- The UN Volunteer Data and Georeferencing Associate will
contribute to strengthening strategic monitoring and territorial
analysis capacities by supporting the consolidation, analysis and
visualization of programmatic and partnership-related information,
with a focus on territorial data and geospatial analysis.
- The position will support the development of integrated
territorial information systems and contribute to the production of
strategic evidence and visual tools that allow the Country Office
to better understand:
- where projects and initiatives are implemented;
- what development results are being achieved at territorial
level;
- which partnerships and stakeholders are operating across
territories;
- and how interventions contribute to national and local
development priorities.
- The assignment will also contribute to institutional learning,
knowledge management and data-informed decision-making
processes.
Task description:
- Under the direct supervision of Head of the Strategic Support
Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- 1. Data Management and Analysis
- Support the consolidation, cleaning and organization of
programmatic and operational information.
- Assist to integrate data from different projects, thematic
areas and monitoring systems.
- Support to produce data analysis and analytical summaries to
support strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to institutional monitoring reports and management
dashboards.
- 2. Georeferencing and Territorial Analysis
- Support to develop and maintain georeferenced databases related
to UNDP interventions and results in Guatemala.
- Assist to produce thematic maps and territorial visualization
products.
- Support territorial analysis of programmatic coverage,
intervention gaps and development trends.
- Contribute to mapping partnerships, stakeholders and
territorial presence of development actors.
- 3. Data Visualization and Information Products
- Assist in designing dashboards and visual tools for strategic
monitoring and reporting.
- Support the development of data visualization products for
internal and external audiences.
- Contribute to presentations, infographics and analytical briefs
for senior management and partners.
- 4. Knowledge Management and Institutional Strengthening
- Support the documentation of methodologies, processes and
standards related to data management and geospatial analysis.
- Contribute to promote good practices in data quality and
territorial information management.
- Contribute to institutional learning and knowledge-sharing
initiatives.
- 5. Support to UN Volunteer Programme
- Participate in UN Volunteer activities and initiatives.
- Promote volunteerism and civic engagement within the framework
of the UN system and the 2030 Agenda.
- During the first month of the assignment, the UN Volunteer will
work closely with his/her direct supervisor to finalize an
agreed-upon work plan. The work plan should outline key objectives
and activities and include regular check ins with the supervisor to
review progress and receive performance feedback.

Donor priorities:
Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country
other than the country of assignment.
Additional eligibility criteria:
- This assignment, including a 12-month contract extension, is
funded by Spain and therefore candidates must be Spanish
nationals.
- Candidates who already served on a UN Volunteer assignment
funded by Spain are not eligible.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The selection
will be carried out by the UN Host Entity in the country of
assignment.

Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated interest or experience (up to two years) in
relevant fields.
- Required Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of GIS software such as QGIS and/or
ArcGIS.
- Basic knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or
Tableau.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general data management
tools.
- Ability to organize, process and analyze data sets.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary
teams.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in
data analysis and geospatial information management.
- Desirable Skills
- Understanding of sustainable development, SDG indicators or
results-based management concepts.
