The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Transaction Operations Unit, at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Trainee - Finance & Data Operations.

Duration: 5 months & Starting date: September 2026

Specific Post Environment:

The Transaction Operations Unit is a part of the Investor Operations Division, under the Finance & Strategy Office . The main objective of the Unit is to manage, control and process capital call and distribution operations received from Fund Managers in a timely and accurate manner. The Unit ensures that transactions are appropriately reviewed, challenged and correctly recorded in EIF's systems, with a strong focus on data quality, operational efficiency and respect of deadlines.

Overall objective:

  • The trainee will be assigned to a 5 month dedicated project within the Transactions Operations unit, focusing on the review and structuring of withholding tax operations and investors data input processes.

  • The objective is to analyse current workflows, identify inefficiencies and propose as well as support the implementation of improvements to enhance process efficiency, standardisation and data quality.

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the senior of the team, the trainee shall:

  • Support the accurate recording of withholding tax operations and related elements in EIF's systems, in accordance with internal procedures and data quality requirements.

  • Analyse the investors data input process to identify inefficiencies and risks impacting data quality and processing timelines.

  • Contribute to the streamlining of investors data input workflows by proposing concrete improvements and optimisation measures.

Expected outcome:

  • By the end of the 5 month assignment, a full and accurate recording of all withholding tax operations in eFront, demonstrating the trainee's ability to apply procedures autonomously within a controlled framework.

  • Proposal and documentation of a concrete optimisation solution (such as revised workflow, standardised input guidelines, or process enhancements), together with support to its initial implementation, aimed at streamlining and improving the efficiency and reliability of investors data input.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or on-going studies in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. The Candidate may be enrolled in the final year of a Master's degree.

  • Strong knowledge and competencies in finance, financial administration, accounting, audit or similar environment;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of other Microsoft application tools (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good command of another EU language would be an advantage.

  • Experience or interest in data analysis and automation tools (e.g. advanced Excel, Power Query, VBA, eFront, Power BI or Tableau) would be considered an advantage.

  • Quality focus and high level of accuracy in data analysis.

  • Strong sense of ethics with the ability to keep sensitive information confidential.

  • Strong ability to organize and follow up on tasks with colleagues across the institution.

  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, tools, and methodologies.

  • Excellent team-working abilities.
