Mission and objectives:
- This UNV assignment will be carried out within the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Chile. The RCO is part of the United Nations Reform led by the Secretary-General. The Office's mandate is to support the coordination of the various agencies, funds, and programmes that make up the UN Country Team, with the aim of ensuring coherence and effectiveness in the operational activities of the entire United Nations system, promoting synergy, joint planning, and leadership.
- The RCO supports both the Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team in the fulfilment of their functions and in the implementation of the Cooperation Framework. In doing so, it contributes to enhancing the visibility of the actions of agencies, funds, and programmes in the country; supports the preparation and implementation of joint programmes; facilitates inter-agency coordination; and helps identify common initiatives. The RCO also serves as a liaison with external stakeholders when engagement and joint action by the UN system are required.
Context:
- The UNV assignment will be situated at the interface of the Office's Communications and Data Management area, supporting the UN Country Team (UNCT) in Chile through i) website and social media platforms management and technical support; ii) implementation of AI tools for analytics and the development of communication products; iii) data management and analysis. In addition, it will support the adoption of other elements of the UN 2.0 "Quintet of Change."
Task description:
- Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Support the management and regular updating of the UN Chile (UNCT) website and social media platforms, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned with UN editorial standards.
- Prepare graphics and social media posts, including multimedia content, in line with UN branding and communication guidelines.
- Assist in the planning, creation, and dissemination of content and joint communication campaigns in coordination with the inter-agency communications group and strategic partners.
- Provide technical and coordination support to the inter-agency communications group, including preparation of materials, meeting notes, and follow-up actions.
- Prepare communication materials, including brochures, presentations (PPT), reports, and other outreach products.
- Support the preparation of situational analysis reports and other analytical outputs.
- Contribute to the preparation of the UN annual report and other relevant corporate reports.
- Support the collection, organization, and management of data, including data entry and maintenance within UN INFO.
- Assist in the compilation, updating, and management of national data for the Common Country Analysis (CCA).
- Contribute to data systematization, ensuring quality, consistency, and accessibility of datasets.
- Support data analysis and the development of data visualizations, including dashboards, infographics, and other data-driven communication products.
- Assist in the identification, testing, and application of AI and digital tools to enhance data analysis, audience insights, and content creation (e.g. automated analytics, natural language processing tools, and generative AI for drafting and design support), in line with UN policies and ethical standards.
- Support the development of automated workflows and dashboards for monitoring communication performance and key indicators.
- Contribute to the integration of digital solutions and innovative tools to improve efficiency in data management and communications processes.
- Assist in documenting and sharing good practices related to the use of AI and digital technologies within the UNCT.
- Support the design and development of projects and initiatives related to the UN 2.0 "Quintet of Change," particularly in data, digitalization, and innovation.
- Contribute to knowledge management processes, including documentation of methodologies, lessons learned, and good practices.
- Liaise with relevant counterparts across UN agencies, funds, and programmes to gather inputs, ensure alignment, and facilitate joint initiatives.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to both the Communications and Data Management areas, as required.
- Results/expected outputs
- As an active Chile RCO team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to DCO and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:
- o Enhanced visibility and coherence of UN Chile communications, with website and social media platforms regularly updated with high-quality, engaging and consistent content aligned with UN priorities
- o Strengthened joint communications and inter-agency coordination, resulting in well-planned campaigns, timely dissemination of key messages, and increased production of joint communication products with strategic partners
- o Improved quality and timeliness of corporate and analytical reports, including situational analyses, annual reports and other UNCT outputs, with clear, evidence-based and accessible messaging
- o Strengthened data management systems, with accurate, up-to-date and reliable information maintained in UN INFO and other platforms, and national data for the CCA systematically compiled and managed
- o Increased use of data analytics and visualization to support decision-making, including the development of dashboards, infographics and other user-friendly data products
- o AI and digital tools are effectively identified, tested and applied to enhance data analysis, communication outputs and performance monitoring, in line with UN standards and ethical guidelines
- o Contributions to the implementation of UN 2.0 priorities (data, digitalization, innovation, foresight and behavioural science) are integrated into country-level initiatives and processes
- o Knowledge management practices are strengthened, with methodologies, tools and lessons learned documented and shared to support institutional learning and replication of good practices
- During the first month of the assignment, the UN Volunteer will work closely with his/her direct supervisor to finalize an agreed-upon work plan. The work plan should outline key objectives and activities and include regular check‑ins with the supervisor to review progress and receive performance feedback.

Additional eligibility criteria:
- This assignment is funded by the Government of Korea and therefore specific criteria apply:
- - Candidates must be Korean nationals. Fluency in Korean is required.
- - Candidates must be 27 years of age at the time of application.
- - Candidates who have already served as UN Volunteer Specialist funded by the Government of Korea are not eligible to apply (former UN University and UN Youth Volunteers are eligible).
- - Serving UN Volunteers will not be considered for other UN Volunteer assignments until they reach three (3) months before the end of contract date of their current UN Volunteer assignment. This provision applies equally to first and subsequent contracts.
- - Candidates may apply to a maximum of three assignments and indicate the order of preference in the 'Additional remarks' field when filling in the application form.
- - Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The selection will be done by the UN Host Entity at the level of the country of assignment.

- Skills in:

- Strong writing and editing skills in Spanish are an asset
