Details

Mission and objectives:

  • The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the successful implementation of its partners' peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects around the world. UNOPS supports partners to build a better future by providing services that increase the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.

Context:

  • Funded through major loans from IFIs and in line with SDG3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), UNOPS supports the Government of Uzbekistan (Ministry of Health and the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service) in strengthening the preparedness of its national healthcare system, and preventing and treating diseases and oncological cases in an effective and timely manner.
  • The UNV Associate will play a pivotal role in ensuring supporting day to day project management support activities, enhancing the operational efficiency of the projects implemented under the Uzbekistan Office.
  • The effective and successful achievement of key results by the UNV directly affects the overall impact of UNOPS projects contributing to improving healthcare provision for the people of Uzbekistan.

Task description:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Project Management Support Advisor, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
  • 1. Project Support and Administration
  • Assist in the preparation of project-related documents, including reports, presentations, and meeting minutes.
  • Support the Project Management Team in tracking project progress, identifying potential issues, and proposing solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project files, both physical and electronic.
  • Assist with logistical arrangements for project events, workshops, and training programs.
  • Support the collection of inputs from different units for reports and presentations.
  • 2.Financial Management and Cost Control
  • Support the Project Management Team in monitoring project expenditures and ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Assist in tracking and managing invoices and payments.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of cost-saving measures.
  • 3,Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
  • Assist in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, partners, and clients.
  • Maintain and regularly update the correspondence log, including recording incoming and outgoing letters, updating status, and tracking pending responses.
  • Upload, archive, and verify completeness of official correspondence and related attachments in designated filing systems.
  • Follow up with relevant team members to ensure timely responses to official communications.
  • Support the preparation of communication materials, such as newsletters and website content.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings and events.
  • Assist in preparation of briefing materials, summaries, and presentations
  • Provide excellent customer service to Conference Center users.
  • During the first month of the assignment, the UN Volunteer will work closely with his/her direct supervisor to finalize an agreed-upon work plan. The work plan should outline key objectives and activities and include regular check‑ins with the supervisor to review progress and receive performance feedback.

Additional eligibility criteria:

  • This assignment is funded by the Government of Korea and therefore specific criteria apply:
  • - Candidates must be Korean nationals. Fluency in Korean is required.
  • - Candidates must be between 22 and 29 years of age at the time of application.
  • - Candidates who have already served as UN Youth Volunteer funded by the Government of Korea are not eligible to apply (former UN University Volunteers are eligible).
  • - Serving UN Volunteers will not be considered for other UN Volunteer assignments until they reach three (3) months before the end of contract date of their current UN Volunteer assignment. This provision applies equally to first and subsequent contracts.
  • - Candidates may apply to a maximum of three assignments and indicate the order of preference in the 'Additional remarks' field when filling in the application form.
  • - Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The selection will be done by the UN Host Entity at the level of the country of assignment.
