Job Description

Job Purpose: To develop the programs as pertaining to the running, implementation, and evaluation of ongoing reading programs. Including the creation, development, and editing of content for various activities related to the successful execution of Qatar Reads targets.

Key Result Areas:  Develop relationships with private and public entities accordingly to ensure collaborative efforts for the programs.  Research and develop new programs for identified target groups and scaling up existing programs. Program development by advising on theories, methods, and materials, of reading, language, reading assessment and diagnosis.  Facilitate and activate a network of key individuals and talents and key players both local and international that can help drive reading goals.  Carry out and record selections for program reading material and reading goals for target groups. Review and suggest reading topics and titles in coordination with various parties i.e. QNL, MoE, Scholastic and publishers.  Record, inspect and report Family Reading Program financial subscriptions on a monthly & yearly basis. Supervise money collection, product delivery and user services.  Verify content for accuracy and usability using support communications and ensure adherence to goals of the campaign. Create new content, rewrite the existing content or edit and proofread content He/she would also be responsible for managing content on social media newsletters, press releases, articles and advertising and marketing materials based on the requirements of the campaign.  Follow up with other departments key to the performance of Qatar Reads programs and/or external entities.  Draft documents and reports for internal and external stakeholders in English and Arabic.  Carry out media campaigns and develop unique ideas for web & SM content.  Assist and implement creation of a larger pool of developmental readers.  Report on literacy and technology; adolescent literacy practices, content area reading instruction, language, literacy, and culture; and children's and young adult literature.  Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:  Bachelor's degree in education, communication, cultural affairs or relevant field.  2-5 years of relevant full-time of relevant full-time work experience.  Good knowledge on information mapping, HTML, Photoshop etc. holds additional advantage to this profession. Experience with Viseo is highly recommended.  Excellent Arabic and English writing and speaking with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.  Reading enthusiast.  Excellent online communications, writing skills, good listening skills, multi-tasking skills, ability to work individually are common skills expected of a content developer.  Should be able to think and solve critical issues creatively.  Proficiency in MS Office applications.
