About This Role

This is a full-time, open-ended position open to internal candidates in any ChildFund office location and external candidates in Bolivia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guinea, Gambia Guatemala, Honduras Kenya, Mexico, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia. To be eligible, candidates must have current residence and work authorization in one of the above countries. The Resource Mobilization Specialist plays a critical support role in the global Resource Mobilization team by identifying opportunities, coordinating proposal processes, contributing to proposal development, facilitating donor engagement, and facilitating pipeline management. Reporting to the Director II, Resource Mobilization, the Specialist will primarily support grants acquisition efforts within the international office.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting business development, resource mobilization, grants acquisition, and/or proposal development within an international NGO environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting proposal development for US government, bilateral, multilateral, corporate, and/or foundation donors.
  • At least 2 years of experience with opportunity sourcing and donor intelligence.
  • Demonstrated experience with SharePoint tools.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Experience drafting successful proposals for US government, bilateral, and/or multilateral donors is strongly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead routine, proactive scanning of donor platforms (e.g., websites, list serves, social media) to identify, summarize, analyze, and share funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities and strategy.
  • Lead and support colleagues in conducting business intelligence research, analysis of funding trends, competitive landscape, desk research on emerging funding and partnership opportunities, and the creation of opportunity-specific capability statements/past performance.
  • Maintain the donor intelligence knowledge repository.
  • Strengthen internal proposal processes by improving knowledge management and developing and disseminating templates, tools, and guidance for global, regional, and country teams. Provide capacity strengthening to internal staff to support adoption.
  • Facilitate proposal development on assigned opportunities by:
    • Scheduling kick-off meetings, design sessions, draft reviews, and after-action reviews.
    • Assisting with file organization and management.
    • Supporting compilation of proposal appendices.
    • Drafting of sections and annexes.
  • Serve as Proposal Coordinator on assigned opportunities, coordinating matrixed, geographically-dispersed teams with sensitivity to internal and external deadlines.
  • Review proposals and concept notes coherence, clarity, and alignment with intelligence gathered and donor expectations.
  • As assigned, contribute to drafting of high quality proposals and concept notes, aligned to donor expectations and priorities and ChildFund's resource mobilization strategies.
  • Support pipeline forecasting and analysis of resource mobilization metrics; monitor progress on Resource Mobilization targets and goals and proactively flag bottlenecks and risks.
  • Develop training materials and tools for ChildFund staff across the resource mobilization life cycle, incorporating key skills to increase win rates with a wide array of funders.
  • Contribute to annual planning for the Resource Mobilization team, including portfolio diversification strategies and forecasting.
  • Support donor cultivation and donor engagement by scheduling meetings, supporting meeting preparation and follow-up, and tracking engagement actions.
  • As requested, support consultant selection and contracting.
  • Provide additional support to the Resource Mobilization team as requested.
  • Remain alert and responsive to any safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding Policy.
