Mission and objectives:
- The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the UN that promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) to support economic growth, reduce poverty, and protect the environment. UNIDO helps countries develop competitive and resilient industries by fostering innovation, promoting green technologies, strengthening value chains, and enhancing trade capacity, all in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the three normative guiding principles: Human Rights based approach (HRBA), Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE) and Leaving No One Behind (LNOB).
Context:
- The United Nations Industrial Development Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations established in 1966 and became a specialized UN agency in 1985.
- Mandate:
- UNIDO's core mandate is to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in developing countries and economies in transition. Its work is closely aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).
- The UNIDO Field Office in Tunisia implements a dynamic portfolio of projects supporting inclusive and sustainable industrial development, in alignment with national strategies and SDG 9. These initiatives span key sectors such as green industrialization, circular economy, youth and women's economic empowerment, sustainable textiles, e-mobility, and climate-resilient industries.
- In this context, the National UN Youth Volunteer will contribute to enhancing the coordination and delivery of UNIDO activities by supporting project teams and field office operations
- This volunteer assignment is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia as part of an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program to enhance youth inclusion, with a focus on the inclusion of young people with disabilities (2024-2026). Therefore, applications from young people with disabilities who meet the required qualifications are strongly encouraged.
Task description:
- Under the direct supervision of UNIDO Representative in Tunisia, or his designated representative, the United Nations Volunteer (UNV) - Junior Project Monitoring Assistant will support the UNIDO team in Tunisia in strengthening project monitoring, reporting, and data management for industrial development projects.
- Through this assignment, the volunteer will also contribute to the monitoring of the implementation of the Country Partnership Programme (PCP) of UNIDO in Tunisia, in particular by supporting data collection, coordination, documentation, and the dissemination of results.
- 1. Support to Project Monitoring and Data Collection
- Contribute to the collection, compilation, and organization of data related to project activities and results.
- Support the updating of project monitoring tools (dashboards, databases, tracking files).
- Assist in tracking the progress of activities against work plans and deadlines.
- Support the collection of information from implementing partners and beneficiaries.
- Ensure proper organization and filing of information required for project monitoring.
- 2. Support to Data Analysis and Visualization
- Contribute to the consolidation and verification of collected data.
- Assist in preparing tables, charts, and visual materials to present project results.
- Participate in identifying trends, insights, or gaps based on available data.
- Support the updating of indicators and data collection tools.
- 3. Support to the Use of Digital and Innovative Tools
- Contribute to the use of digital tools that facilitate project management and monitoring.
- Support initiatives aimed at improving data organization and processing through digital solutions.
- Participate in testing and exploring innovative tools, including AI-based solutions, under team supervision.
- Support the simplification and automation of administrative or reporting tasks where relevant.
- 4. Support to Reporting and Knowledge Management
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, briefing notes, presentations, and other project documents.
- Participate in documenting achievements, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Support the updating and archiving of project documents in digital workspaces.
- Contribute to the dissemination of information on project results and activities.
- 5. Support to Coordination and Activity Organization
- Support day-to-day coordination with project teams and relevant partners.
- Assist in the logistical and administrative organization of meetings, workshops, and project events.
- Participate in the preparation of meeting minutes and follow-up on agreed actions.
- Contribute to information flow between different project stakeholders.
- 6. Support to Field Activities
- Participate, when necessary, in field visits as part of project monitoring activities.
- Support data collection and documentation of field activities.
- Contribute to gathering observations, results, and feedback from beneficiaries.
- Assist in preparing mission summaries and reports.

Required education level:
- Bachelor's degree in Studies in Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Gender Studies, or related fields.
- Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in inclusion, economic development, and participatory approaches to international cooperation. Previous involvement in community development or advocacy is a strong asset.

Skills and experience:
- 1 year or less or master's with no Professional Experience
- Skills and experience in:
- - Office administration and logistics coordination, including scheduling, organizing meetings or workshops, document handling, and maintaining records.
- - Basic communication and information management, such as drafting simple correspondence, preparing event materials, supporting visibility actions, and working with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Desirable Skills and Experience:
- At least One (01) month up to One (01) year of professional work experience in industrial development, sustainable development, green industry, or economic development initiatives.
- Basic knowledge of project monitoring, data collection, reporting, or results-based management.
- Familiarity with digital tools and data management applications such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI, or similar platforms is an asset.
- Interest in innovation, digital transformation, and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve workflow efficiency and reporting processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and present information in a clear and structured manner.
