Xylella fastidiosa: science and solutions to protect Europe’s plants
Xylella fastidiosa is one of the most serious plant health threats in Europe, affecting olive trees and many other species. After the outbreak in southern Italy, scientists, institutions and growers joined forces to understand the disease and find solutions. From tolerant olive varieties to new approaches like integrated pest management, research is helping build a growing toolbox to protect Europe’s plants and landscapes.
EFSA supports this work by bringing together expertise and cooperation across Europe.
