Adult obesity in the United States has more than doubled over the past three decades, rising from 19% of adults in 1990 to more than 42% in 2022, according to new research published in JAMA. ​ The analysis also forecasts obesity to continue increasing nationwide, reaching an estimated 47% of adults by 2035.
