Oysters! π¦ͺ
They may not look like much, and many would sooner picture them served up at fancy seafood restaurants than in their natural habitat. But these brilliant bivalves actually play a remarkable role in their marine ecosystem.
Working as a natural water filter oysters feed on algae and remove excess nutrients. They protect coasts from erosion and storms and also create reef systems that act as habitats and nurseries for other species.
Thatβs why our partner organisation, CAOLAS are working to grow and release them into Loch Aline in Scotland. π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώπ
