S3E5 - When Cash Can't Wait: Reimagining Payment Distribution in Sudan

Three years after conflict erupted in Sudan, the toll continues to be devastating. The financial sector has been gutted — liquidity dried up, infrastructure destroyed, and social protection mechanisms unraveled. Humanitarian actors scaled up cash assistance, but fragmented financial service providers, limited liquidity, and complex payment processes created delays of up to 200 days in delivering cash transfers to families in crisis. In this episode of the CGAP podcast, we explore an emerging solution: the Shared Distribution Network (SEND), developed by CGAP and Collective Sudan (formerly Cash Consortium of Sudan), to cut through these delays and improve the cost-effectiveness of cash delivery in one of the world's most severe humanitarian contexts. FEATURED VOICES 🎙 Rayan Nimir, Policy and Advocacy Advisor of Collective Sudan 🎙 William Cook, Senior Financial Sector Specialist, CGAP 🎙 Hiba Al-Madani, cash recipient and small business owner in Sudan Listen to the full episode on our website, and subscribe to the podcast on your favorite platform: https://cgap.pub/4dS5klD 🔔 And subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@UCUO7nlegYLiGPNm5R0cfOiA #FinancialInclusion #FragileContexts #InclusiveFinanceFrontiers #HumanitarianFinance #CashTransfers #InclusiveFinance #Sudan #DevelopmentFinance
